The Cambridge Audio CXA81 MkII combines Class AB stereo amplification with a toroidal transformer and an ESS ES9018K2M digital-to-analogue converter. It is rated at 80 W per channel into 8-ohm speakers, rising to 120 W per channel into 4 ohms; the speaker load is essential when comparing those figures. USB Audio, optical and coaxial digital connections accept suitable digital sources, while RCA and balanced XLR inputs support analogue equipment. Bluetooth aptX HD offers a wireless source option when the transmitting device supports the appropriate codec.
