Sennheiser HD 490 PRO Open-Back Studio Headphones

The Sennheiser HD 490 PRO is a wired, open-back studio headphone designed for music production and mixing. Its circumaural ear cups use 38 mm dynamic transducers and are supplied with two different sets of ear pads, one for producing and one for mixing. Both sets are washable and replaceable, allowing the fit and listening presentation to be adapted to the task. The headphones have a nominal impedance of 130 ohms and weigh 260 g without the cable. Sennheiser specifies a transmission range of 5 Hz to 36,100 Hz at a minus-10 dB measurement threshold, rather than a flat-response claim across that entire range. This standard PRO package includes a 1.8-metre cable and a 3.5 mm to 6.3 mm jack adapter. It is not the PRO Plus package, so a case, spare headband pad and additional three-metre cable are not included. The open-back construction allows sound to pass through the ear cups and is intended for an appropriate listening environment rather than noise isolation.
