KEF LS50 Meta Passive Speakers – Carbon Black Pair
This Carbon Black pair of KEF LS50 Meta loudspeakers is designed for a conventional stereo system with separate amplification. Each compact, two-way bass-reflex cabinet contains a 12th-generation Uni-Q array, placing a 25 mm aluminium dome tweeter at the centre of a 130 mm aluminium mid/bass cone. Metamaterial Absorption Technology behind the tweeter is designed to absorb unwanted rearward high-frequency energy. These are passive speakers, not the similarly named LS50 Wireless II system: they do not contain a network streamer or power amplifiers. KEF recommends an amplifier rated between 40 and 100 watts, and specifies 8-ohm nominal impedance with a 3.5-ohm minimum. Sensitivity is 85 dB at 2.83 V/1 m. Speaker cable and an appropriate amplifier are needed, while stands are a separate installation choice rather than an assumed part of this pair. The published frequency response is 79 Hz to 28 kHz within ±3 dB.
